password protecting data

Hi,

I need to provide a facility to do routine database administration
(backups, etc.) without allowing the logged in user to modify the
data in any of the SQL server tables. Is there any way to accomplish
this (such as maybe password protecting the tables or otherwise)? I am
fairly new to SQL server - so would appreciate any pointers to this.

Thanks a ton!

Sounds like you want to use ROLES and use db_backupoperator.

Password Management Policy in SQL 2000

Hi,
Does the SQL 2000 provide the same Password Management Policy capabilities a
s provided in Oracle 9i ?
By Password Management Policy, I mean the Account Locking, Password Ageing a
nd Expiration and Password History features.
Thanks.

Authentication. SQL 2005, currently in beta testing, will extend password
policies to include SQL authentication also.
Hope this helps.

password

I have a DTS saved as a structered storage file. How can I provide SQL SERVER Logon ID and password for this DTS package and call it within a SP through the LOGON ID and Password?exec master..xp_cmdshell 'dtsrun /Ssql1 /NPublish /E'
--This will execute the DTSRun command line utility with the parameters

/S = SQL Server Host Name
/N = DTS Package Name
You can either use /E for "trusted connection" or /U/P to supply username and passwords

You will need the correct permissions to run xp_cmdshell since it is in the MASTER database.
