password policy

I tried to unchecked the password policy for a user. But I got an error
message when I press the OK button, "CHeck policy and check expiration
cannot be off when must change is on". Can anyone please tell me where I can
turnoff the must_change option so that I can uncheck the password policy.
THanks.
I am using SQL 2005 server.

|||Hello,
Best option is login using that user and change the password once it prompts
for a password and then disconnect. After that connect as SA and uncheck the
password policy.
This will work.
Thanks

Password Management Policy in SQL 2000

Hi,
Does the SQL 2000 provide the same Password Management Policy capabilities a
s provided in Oracle 9i ?
By Password Management Policy, I mean the Account Locking, Password Ageing a
nd Expiration and Password History features.
Thanks.

Authentication. SQL 2005, currently in beta testing, will extend password
policies to include SQL authentication also.
Hope this helps.

Password does not meet Windows policy requirements 2005

I have been given the task to see if our software will work against SQL
Server 2005:-
XP Pro installed on a Virtual PC
SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition Installed
Mixed mode Security
Check policy set to off
Installation of 2005 was successful and no error reported in the logs.
Now the fun started hen attempting to install our software, using the SA
account (we have also created additional SQL logins too but still have the
same problem) it gets as far as creating the various databases but when
attempting to create tables it receives the following error:-
Create Table failed
SQL-DMO error: 15118 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]
Password validation failed. The password does not meet Windows policy
requirements because it is not complex enough
The password we are using meets the criteria for creating passwords and I
have also checked Windows Security Settings and the Passord Policy 'Password
must meet complexity requirements' is disabled
If you need any additional information please let me know.
Many thanks
PaulHi Paul,
make sure that there is o domain policy activated which forces secure
passwords.
HTH, jens Suessmeyer.|||Jens,
Thank you for your reply the domain policy is not currently active

Passqord Policy on SQL Server

Hello,
I'm new to SQL Server and I was wondering if I'm using SQL Server
authentication then how I configure the password policies such as password
age and password complexity.
Thanks
Manish
SQL Server 2000 does not support password age / complexity in regards to SQL
Server logins, but future versions probably will.
