peer to peer replication

Hi,

I set up a peer to peer replication on servers, but only one side seem to be working. I am getting Log Reader Agent job error.

Unable to start execution of step 2 (reason: Error authenticating proxy domain\user, system error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.). The step failed.

I am using the same windows account on both servers, why is one side working and the other side not?

doublecheck the account and password that starts the job, sqlserver and sqlagent service, and doublecheck their permissions on the machine.

last week I posted a thread to explain that I was unable tu access a remote sqlserver from my personnal computer running wsindows XP.
I had a problem with my motherboard which obliged me to change it. I did, and decided to format my hard drive and reinstal only the programs needed, once upon SQL server could connect to my DB. I first instal XP, then the SP1 and after sql server. Then i configured the client network utility using an alias and giving the IP. It functionned well. Then I instal the soft I need (Sharp developp, webmatrix, flash XP (ftp), Together and office XP) but I was configuring Outlook when I got and CPU FAN warning. 256 mega de ram later, I was sure it will run like it did saturday but it was'nt. It make the same error as before the motherboard changing. So I reformat my hard drive and I don't understand what could it make weel run on satruday and the shunt down on monday.

so If you have an Idea of what to do, please help me,

On the remote server ther is no trace of a connection trying,
and i don't find on my computer the event log you asks.

In the Attachement you will find the screen shot and the translation (because I'm french) of the error.

Could you reply me where can i find the event log to send it to you.

Patterns for table design

I am looking for something similar to patterns for table design, but I have been unable to find anything on that, or good rule of thumb performance guides for table design.

Most of the situations we face look like perfect candidates for patterns, and some good rules of thumb -- problems like scalable OLAP requirements PLUS real time reporting.

I am looking for several differnet approaches and a good summary of the trade-offs for each one.

I haven't read it yet but looking at the website (that has a catalog of the patterns), it seems to be pretty thorough. It goes hand in hand with Martin's Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture and the other book in the series on Enterprise Integration Patterns.

Password Error... while installing SQL SP 3a

When I try to install SQL Server Service Pack 3a, I am getting the following
error message.
"Setup was unable to validate your password. Press retry to enter password
or press cancel to exit out of setup" "Retry and Cancel" buttons.
I am entering a valid password. What are the reasons that it may throw this
error message?
Also I noticed that My SQL server and SERVER agent are getting stopped while
doing this SP installation.
SQL 2K.
Any comments and thoughts. Thanks you,

account for the engine was authenticating to another domain and I was logged
into the domain the machine was in via remote desktop. Once I altered the
service to use the account in the same domain as the machine, all was fine.
needless to say, some of our installs are jacked up.

Password Encryption in XML File

I am unable to encrypt password of sqlserver database in XML file by Package Configuration in SSIS.

I think that is not possible (though it might be possible if you develop something). According to the SSIS help you can either save the config file in SQL Server or use Windows access control lists to protect access to your config file.
