pdf-files in full-text-search

Hallo, I tryed to add pdf-files that are stored in a image-column to
full-text-search. As mime-type in the "data type column" I used
"application/pdf". So, I can see at the "unique key count" that the
files are read from the index but I can't find anything in the files by
searching with contains(). Whats wrong? Is the data type not the right.
Is there a generally problem with pdf? Thanks in advance, Silvio

PDF Rendering Problem

I started to develop a pdf rendering problem when switching to my new Dell
830 notebook. The same matrix type report now have text running over cell
boundary lines - it never happened before. I even tried to change the
resolution back to 1024x768 - using 1920x1200 now - it didnt have any affect.
I use Adobe 8 and SQL Reporting Services as part of the SQL 2005 Express

If you are not using the SP2 version of SQL Server 2005 Express
Edition w/Advanced Services, this might help. Also, if there are
updates available for Adobe Reader, you might want to look into those.

When I try to print my report this print error is displayed:
"An error occured during printing. (0x80004005)"
The report exports just fine to Excel and other reports export to PDF &
print just fine.
A previous post from Bruce Johnson referred to report language settings and
I am not sure which setting to verify.
I am running Reporting Services SP2.

the problem. I was able to isolate it down to a particular group footer and
then got the "bright" idea to check for a service pack. Installed to
development and server and all is good again.

I'm using Reporting Services with SP1.
Thanks in AdvancePlease verify how you have the report Language property set.
If you do not have Language property set to a language-country pair (i.e.
en-us) you will get this error when exporting to PDF.
If you select Czech in Report Designer it will get serialized as "cs". To
workaround this issue you will need to select Czech (Czech Republic)
in Report Designer. This choice gets serialized as "cs-CZ".

I have seen this only once before and reinstalling the Arial font fixed this issue. The error message you see comes from the Windows GDI library. To reinstall Arial, do the following. Note that these instructions are for Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 only.

1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\Fonts

2. Right-click the Arial (TrueType) font and select delete

3. Reboot

4. Expand Arial.tt_ from the i386 or AMD64 directory on your Windows CD to a directory on your hard drive. To expand, you can use the expand.exe file in the i386/amd64 directory or an application like 7-Zip.

5. In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\Fonts

6. From the File menu, choose Install New Font and then select the Arial.TTF file you expanded.

7. Reboot

I've created a report and it works fine in html,
but when I export to PDF, I receive next error:

Miguel.Check what the report language property is set to. If it's not a
language-country pair, you might run into this error. For instance, if you
choose "English", this error might occur. Change it to a language-country
pair (for example en-US).

PDF export error

When I try to export a 2400 pages report to pdf get the reporting services
error:
exception of type Microsoft.Reporting.Services.ReportRenderingException was
thrown. index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size
of the collection. Parameter name: index.
The report ran before SP2 fine and after SP2 fine too.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.These are the error I get when debug.

Password Input Mask

In access there is an input mask for a field of type "password". Is there anything similar in SQL Server 2000?No, but you can remove the select permission in the password column in your database|||Access_dude: paradigm shift required...

While Access is a combination database engine and application interface, SQL Server does not have a built-in application interface. Masks, and many other interface features of MS Access are not in SQL Server.

I would like to write a stored procedure that takes a table (i.e. table
variable) as its parameter.

What should SP_MYPROC's signature look like? I can't seem to be able to find
anything about this in the documenation.
I guess it would look something like this:

(@.t TABLE)
or
ALTER PROCEDURE SP_MYPROC
(@.t TABLE(ID INT, NAME VARCHAR(50)))
Actually, how big is the freedom when taking such a parameter? Is it enough
to use the first version and treat the table whatever way I would like to?
E.g. not assuming that the 'NAME' column is a VARCHAR(50), but taking
any tables the second column of which is of type VARCHAR of any size.

Passing Table data type as Param to a function

Hi,
How can i pass Table data type parameter to UDF ?You can't but there's probably another solution (using joins for example).
If you need more help, describe the problem with DDL, sample data and
required results.

1 - Use persistant tables or views. You pass the selection criteria as
variables. Requires you to define your datasets you would want to pass
before hand.
2 - Use a temporary table. The table and column names must be predefined
and the table must be built before calling the function.
3 - Use a text or varchar variable with delimiters to pass a single column
worth of data. Limit of 8000 characters.
4 - Use dynamic SQL. Security, speed and integrity problems arise with
dynamic SQL.
A few questions to ask before deciding what approach to take:
- What is the maximum number of rows to pass?
- Is more then one column required?
- Does the data being passed require indexing?
- Who will be using the funtion and what rights do they have?
